Hot Herbal Tea

  1. Place 1g of dried herb (about one tablespoon) into a container with a lid.*

  2. Add 200ml (one cup) of hot water at around 90°C.*

  3. Let it steep for 3 to 5 minutes, allowing the herb to release its hidden strength. The longer it steeps, the more intense the flavor.

  4. Remove the herb from the container.

Your herbal tea is ready to enjoy! If you prefer a sweeter taste, feel free to add a touch of honey.

*The water should be just below boiling to avoid losing the herb’s essential oils through steam. A covered container helps trap both the properties and the aroma, preserving the full experience in your warm cup.

Iced Herbal Tea

Follow the same steps as for the hot tea, with one simple change: double the amount of herb. Once ready, pour the tea over a glass full of ice and enjoy it plain or lightly sweetened with honey!

Most of us first came to know rose geranium—arbaroriza, as it’s fondly called in Greece—as a charming ornamental plant, with purple blooms and distinctively shaped leaves. But it’s so much more than just a pretty flower! Discover a local herb, grown right here in Greece, that can uplift your mood and offer unique therapeutic benefits.

Arbaroriza is a perennial aromatic plant whose name comes from the Italian words “erba” and “roza”, meaning “pink-colored herb.” Its deeply serrated leaves release a powerful fragrance when gently rubbed, unlike its lovely but less aromatic flowers. It’s a common sight in Greek gardens and balconies and is also known by many names—geranio, pelargoni, moschofyllo, kiouli, loukoumochorto, and barbarousa.
