Place 1g of dried herb (about one tablespoon) in a covered container.
Add 200ml (one cup) of hot water at 90°C (just below boiling).
Let it steep for 3 to 5 minutes, allowing the herb to release its hidden strength.
The longer you steep, the stronger the infusion.
Remove the herb from the container.
Your tea is ready to enjoy!
If you prefer a sweeter taste, feel free to add a bit of honey.
Tip: Use water just before boiling to avoid losing the herb’s essential oils to steam. Also, cover your container to trap both aroma and beneficial properties in your warm cup.
Follow the same steps as above, but double the amount of herb.
Once steeped, pour your tea over a glass filled with ice.
Enjoy it plain or with a touch of honey!
A herb known since Ancient Greece for its beneficial properties. Its name, meaning “the herb that heals,” is also known as Hypericum, St. John’s Wort, or Balsam herb (“Valsamochorto” in Greek).
This is a truly medicinal plant. Both its dried flowering tops and leaves are used as raw material by the pharmaceutical industry—primarily in the production of remedies aimed at treating mild forms of depression.
