Cold Tea with Cretan Herbs! An ideal choice to cool off!

It is really enjoyable on hot days of the year to be able to cool down easily and quickly with something healthy and homemade. What we would like to offer you through this article is a cool, enjoyable, and delicious homemade cold tea from Cretan herbs! We will share with you little secrets for creating cold drinks using Cretan herbs.

The consumption of teas is no longer seasonal, as while in winter they offer the warmth and warmth that everyone is looking for, in summer they are again the ideal proposal, offering coolness and hydration in their cold version. In both cases, the enjoyment is given, but the benefits for our bodies from their consumption are also given.

There are a variety of ready-made cold teas on the market, single-variety, in various mixtures, or in combination with the juice of some fruits. To ensure a longer shelf life but also for reasons of improvement in taste, many of these preparations contain various preservatives and additives, thus reducing their nutritional value. The use of black tea for cold drinks is common because it contains caffeine and is a common ingredient in many preparations.

Cold homemade herbal teas, for all hours of the day, without sugar and preservatives are our delicious suggestion that everyone can prepare in just a few minutes:
You can make cold tea by starting to make hot tea which you then freeze.

For immediate effect, use at least double the amount of herb to make a strong hot tea and then add ice cubes. Alternatively, place the hot tea you have made in the refrigerator until it cools down and has the temperature you want.

Iced Tea with Dittany & Lemon Verbena:

Cold Tea

What you will need:

1 tablespoon Lemon Verbena leaves

1 tablespoon leaves and flowers of Dittany of Crete

200ml fresh hot water, at a temperature of 90oC

20ml of fresh orange juice (or 5ml of concentrated orange juice)

Plenty of ice

 

Prepare your cold herbal tea:

  1. Place the herbs in hot water and leave to infuse for about 4 minutes, in a sealed container. Remember that we want a “strong tea” so that when it is added to the ice it does not weaken the intensity of its taste.
  2. In a glass filled with ice add the tea and then add the fresh orange juice. Depending on how “fruity” you want it, add the corresponding amount of juice!
  3. Garnish with a slice of fresh orange

Iced tea with Lemon Verbena, Malotira & Mint

Cold Tea tofillo

What you will need:

4 to 5 flower stems (sprigs with flowers) Cretan mountain tea – malotira

1 tablespoon Lemon Verbena leaves

200ml fresh hot water, at a temperature of 90oC

Fresh mint leaves

Plenty of ice

Prepare your herbal tea:

  1. Place the herbs in hot water and leave to infuse for about 10 minutes, in a sealed container. Remember that we want a “strong tea” so that when it is added to the ice it does not weaken the intensity of its taste.
  2. Add the tea to a glass filled with ice. Put 2 to 3 leaves of fresh mint in your tea for an even cooler result!

 

Try the herbal tofillo teas cold, plain or in imaginative and tasty combination both with each other and in combination with various fruits and / or their juices! Remember that cold tea can be kept for 24 hours in your refrigerator while maintaining its healing and tonic properties unchanged.
