I am here to prove that always, after a huge disaster
nature finds a way to heal its wounds.
What does pink rockrose (Cistus creticus) have to do with fire?
Well, we saw it with our own eyes!
It was Autumn 2003 when a fire destroyed huge areas in the region of Lakki – Skordalos in Chania, Crete. An immeasurable disaster, a place left without life and forced many inhabitants of the area to abandon their properties.
It was Autumn 2013 when we decided to make our dreams come true and work with the precious herbs of the Cretan land. Family farms without care for a decade had been there to give us the answers we were looking for!
What is the relation between Cistus Creticus and the Fire?
For us, Cistus is a miracle of nature as it survives and grows after natural disasters such as fires. The Pink rockrose has some special characteristics as its root manages to survive the heat of the fire and the plant can grow in fossilized soil.
The presence of Cistus is a reminder of man’s devastating impact on the earth and how nature always has a way and the power to recover. From the very first moment, Cistus has been among the herbs we wanted to offer through our botanical collection, as in addition to its unique healing properties, it is undoubtedly a symbol of rebirth and restoration of life!
